Plymouth Autos
A Plymouth automobile is the name given to a definite kind of vehicles which were originally made in United States. They were first introduced by Chrysler Corporation and DaimlerChrysler during the great depression period in 1920′s for the first time. From the on set of the great depression, it became very difficult for the car companies to keep their business smooth and during this time they started to introduce the low cost making vehicles and Plymouth automobiles were the first one in that league. Plymouth vehicles were introduced first on July 7th, 1928 in the States. At that time, Ford was the one which was ruling the car market. At that time, Plymouths were priced at a bit higher price than they were supposed to be but still they contained the great features like hydraulic brakes which the other low price cars were not able to provide. In the beginning, Plymouths were exclusively sold by Chrysler.

During the 1930, Plymouth cars were just supposed to create a niche in the market for Chrysler but it proved to be of great importance for this car making company as it helped a lot in helping Chrysler gain its stance in the auto market. Plymouth came in three different types in 1930′s which were Chrysler, DeSoto and Dodge. With the coming of Plymouth in car market, the market saw a huge rise in demand for this kind of cars. Since at that time market was dominated by Ford, so to finally get into competition Chrysler introduced the cylinder concept in the Plymouth cars. They introduced new features in the car but for no well known reason they reduced the wheelbase to 107″ from the original 112″ size. Due to this change, the Plymouth cars stopped selling in the market. Due to their sudden decrease in sales, Chrysler introduced the 112″ model back in Plymouth Dodge and they put the front fenders, radiator shell and hood to the bottom of the PC body.

The introduction PC body in the car was called as “Plymouth Six” in the start. But even this was not able to solve the issues of low sale for Chrysler. The Plymouth Six was shipped to other countries like Sweden, Australia, UK and Denmark. In UK, the ole Plymouth Six became a rage with a new name, called “Chrysler Kew”. It broke all the records of sale in the market and even went further than the Dodge truck sales. In most of the times when Plymouth was in market, it always remained at the top in car world. It also went ahead in sales from Ford and Chevrolet. The Plymouth automobiles were famous for their longevity, affordability and the way they were engineered. They were supposed to be very stylish and in style cars. The Plymouth cars were famous till 1970′s and had offered models like Neon and Breeze. But by the start of 1990′s, the sale of Plymouth automobiles started to go down as newer versions of car models came in market which offered better features at greater prices.
